Keeping Seattle Rolling Since 1994

Major Spin

If you’ve got some free time on Thursday, February 16, skip happy hour and make your way to Allstar Fitness in West Seattle for the 2nd Annual Major Taylor Project Spin-A-Thon. Last year the group blew away their $5000 goal and raised $12,000 to support the Major Taylor Project. This year their goal is $16,000.

If you’re not familiar with the Major Taylor Project, it’s a year-round program run by the Cascade Bicycle Club Education Foundation focused on bringing youth from diverse communities into the sport of cycling. It’s named after Marshall “Major” Taylor, the first African American pro cyclist. They run five after-school bike clubs in low income neighborhoods in and around south King County.

The Spin-A-Thon is planned for Feb. 16 from 5pm-8pm at Allstar Fitness, 2629 SW Andover St. To register for the Spin-A-Thon, contact Ed Ewing at 206-778-4671 or email ed.ewing@cascadebicycleclub.org or Emma Epstein at 206-957-6960 or email mtpa@cascadebicycleclub.org.  And if you can’t participate, you can always sponsor someone – Major Taylor kids will be there spinning too, so show them your support!
